RE: Best Shows and Dining in Smokies
Apple Barn for breakfast in Pigeon Forge. None better!! Great American steakhouse is pretty good--not your "average" steak-buffet place (PF also).
RE: Creative solution? Filling Fresh Water Tank Question
Thanks for the replies, everybody. I'm going to try and plumb it as I suggested; there is a vent in the tank, so I don't think pressure building will be a problem. I'll just make sure and let it fill slowly.
Creative solution? Filling Fresh Water Tank Question
I absolutely DETEST having to put fresh water in my tank. Even with one of those filling things they sell to stick down in it, it still gurgles and takes forever to fill.
I was thinking, why can't I plumb the thing in such a way that I could fill the tank while I'm hooked to city water; kill two birds with one stone. I know there's a valve in the demand pump that keeps that from happening--what if I plumbed it so that you could do that.
Here the original plumbing diagram:
http://inlinethumb39.webshots.com/12710/2012801040091148048S500x500Q85.jpg
What if I installed a "T" in the line going from the tank to the pump, then a "T" in the cold water line, after the pump, then connected them with some pex with an in-line shut off valve. When the valve is closed, plumbing as normal, pump or city water. With city water hooked up, turn the valve, water "backflows" into the fresh water tank, filling without having the aggravation.
Here's the "new" diagram:

All you tech guys out there, am I on the right page here? Will this work? If so, I'll be a happy camper!! What do you think.
RE: What to look for in new TVs?
Make sure to look for one with an ATSC (Digital) tuner. The old tuner is an NTSC tuner. If the stores still have stock of a TV made before last year, it will not have the digital tuner. Just look for that, and you'll be good to go. I got my LCD flat panel for the TT on Ebay; a good source!
RE: just practicing
Open up the picture in webshots; on the right hand side, you'll see a box that says "link to this picture." Underneath, there are a series of numbers in tabs (100, 200, 425, 500, 600). Click the 600 tab, then copy the link for "post in a forum." Should come out perfect every time. Repeat this process for all the pictures you want to post.
RE: best "inexpensive" towing vehicle for 19-23' TT
I love towing with our Jeep Grand Cherokee. Our V8 model can tow up to 6,900 lbs. We've never had it close to that, but its gets our 16 ft model around just fine. And, what's nice about that too is you have a back seat, and enclosed area to stow things in the back.
RE: Factory Stereo Stinks!
I just recently upgraded my unit with a DVD/CD/MP3 player. Now, I don't have to carry a seperate DVD player--it's build in! I got it on ebay for $112.95. Its been one of the nicest additions I've made to my trailer. Here's the link for the item on ebay link

I also installed marine speakers in my ceiling; I thought with all the moisture that develops when the RV sits, it wouldn't hurt to use waterproof speakers that mount into the ceiling. Only paid $15 per pair on ebay too: link

RE: Nova Campground - Daytona
Depends on what you like it for. I stayed there in May of last year. There are A LOT of seasonals. My sight was grass, but not trimmed very well. I had full hookups, and my sight was pretty shaded. You can get REALLY shaded sights if you opt for no sewer. That have a lot of primitive sights (I'm assuming for race week and stuff) that were empty when I was there. The pool is nice and the shower house was clean. They had cable at the sight, but not internet, which I really missed.
For me, this was fine; it wasn't a destination. I was attending a conference in Daytona Beach and didn't wanna make the 45 minute drive home every night to DeLand. If you're going to Daytona to do other things, this would be fine. I wouldn't make the campground my destination, though.
RE: Buffalo wing recipes???
12 whole chicken wings
3 ounces unsalted butter
1 small clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Place a 6-quart saucepan with a steamer basket and 1-inch of water in the bottom, over high heat, cover and bring to a boil.
Remove the tips of the wings and discard or save for making stock. Using kitchen shears, or a knife, separate the wings at the joint. Place the wings into the steamer basket, cover, reduce the heat to medium and steam for 10 minutes. Remove the wings from the basket and carefully pat dry. Lay the wings out on a cooling rack set in a half sheet pan lined with paper towels and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Replace the paper towels with parchment paper. Roast on the middle rack of the oven for 20 minutes. Turn the wings over and cook another 20 minutes or until meat is cooked through and the skin is golden brown.
While the chicken is roasting, melt the butter in a small bowl along with the garlic. Pour this along with hot sauce and salt into a bowl large enough to hold all of the chicken and stir to combine.
Remove the wings from the oven and transfer to the bowl and toss with the sauce. Serve warm.
RE: inside pics of our trailer
I love looking at the inside of other people's "vintage" trailers. Even though mine is 31 years old, the inside doesn't look very vintage any more. Have gutted the inside and completely redone it front to back. Its been fun, a lot of work, and rewarding.

RE: How to classify this?
Hey, you can camp next to me anytime. Mine is so old; sometimes I feel like the red-headed step child too. So, let's be friends! :D I'd love to have a tour of your boatamper.
RE: AC Noise in non-ducted TT
Well, I know that in my little 16 ft. trailer, my 1-year old Duo Therm 13,500 is NOISY. Its non-ducted, but its not the compressor kicking in and out that's noisy--its the fan!! Even on low, the thing ROARS. We don't mind at night, because we like the noise, but trying to watch TV during the day is nearly impossible! I actually pipe our TV through our car radio/ceiling speaker setup just so we can hear the sound! I know my in-laws' Coleman 13,500 (that's 18 years old) is MUCH quieter than my Duo Therm. Guess it varies by manufacturer!
RE: Water leak
You may be getting some water past the seal that prevents water going backwards through the pump and filling up your tank when you're on shore water. Replacing that seal may help, but that wouldn't explain water on the floor. Also check for cracks in your fittings. The could have been tightened too tight at the factory, or, depending on the age of the unit, they may be going bad? Some places to start anyway. Have fun; tracing down water leaks can be a bear!
RE: May I please see your closets?
When I "remodeled" the inside of our TT this year, I decided to add more space. Before, we only had one closet with only hanging storage; it was crammed when we went on a two-week trip this summer. So, in the new configuration, in the back, I have 4 doors with shelf storage for shoes/folded clothes, then the top skinny closet for coats/some hanging storage, and the bottom for the vacuum and misc. Its worked out very well for us.

RE: What to do in the wind.
I wouldn't take the chance. Jeanne, Francis, and Charlie were bad enough, even 25 miles inland here in central Florida, that I would take my little TT and head north. Then, when you come home with no power, fire up the genny, have all the comforts of home, and watch the neighbors sweat! :)
RE: Full Hookup Campgrounds On the Beach
Beverly Beach Camptown (link) in Flagler Beach, FL is a wonderful campground, DIRECTLY on the beach with full hookups. There isn't much in the area; the beach IS the attraction, and the place is very pricey. Also, not far south of there is Gamble Rogers State Park (link), which is directly on the beach as well, is very nice (no sewer, but has dump station), and is only $25 per night. Have stayed at both; love them both for their own unique charm.
RE: Gatlinburg / Pidgeon Forge RV resorts
We stayed at "Twin Mountain RV Park" (link)when we were there in October. We really like this place. It was busy, of course, for that time of year, but our sight was very clean, well maintained, and the staff was very helpful. The sights are tight, but they're long--we were on the backside (not creekside) and found that we had tons of room behind our TT to have our campfire, etc. Its very accessible to Pigeon Forge, and they even give you coupons to the Pancake House very close to the campground.
RE: What's your Favorite campfire dessert?
S'more Pie
1 Fridge pie crust
4-5 Graham Crackers, crushed
4-5 Hershey bars
Mini marshmallows
Flour and roll the pie crust out on a cookie sheet. Bake the "naked" crust for 10-15 min at 350. Remove from oven, let sit for 15 min. Cover crust with Hershey bars, then graham crackers, then top with marshmallows. Bake at 350 for 10-15 min (until marshmallows are toasted and chocolate melts), and then eat!
IT IS TO DIE FOR!!! Its s'mores, only better!
